You heard me right, Leicester Fencing Club are going to be in it to win it this summer with an ambitious world record attempt!
Sunday 14th August we are going to set up an Olympic-style Piste (courtesy of Leon Paul) in the café of Leicester’s Curve Theatre, from there we will be breaking the world record officially called: MOST PARTICIPANTS IN A TEAM FENCING EXHIBITION MATCH.
Now this is where you come in, if you’re aged 13+ as of Aug 14 and have passed at least grade one you can be part of one of the teams attempting this record. We need fencers of all disciplines and skill levels to fill spots on each team, we’re looking for a minimum of 60 fencers to compete! If you think you might fancy a go drop us a message below and we will be in touch with a full application pack soon. *Please note you would need to be a full member of the BFA or similar in order to participate.
We’re not just looking for current LFC Members, we want to spread the word around the Midlands (or even beyond) to get involved, please share this blog with everyone you know who might be interested; fencer, coach/referee or volunteer people wranglers.
We are also fundraising via Just Giving to help to cover the costs of running this event (all participants are providing their time & expertise as volunteers) but also we would like to be able to provide some more funding for club kit to aid our fencers in both training and some more competition ready clothing. Click here to donate.
If we hit our goal (both for the record and the funding) we will also donate a chunk of the proceeds to a local charity of our choice.
Please do drop us a line below (or email David at: chair@leicesterfencingclub.co.uk).
